College.

In college your schedule won't be like anyone else's. You don't move to classes in a herd.

You alone are responsible for your grades.
For getting to class.
For doing your work.

If you put out the same effort you did in high school, your grades will drop about one grade level.

Most college classes meet the first day and pass out the syllabus and the required book list, which you must then walk to the campus bookstore and purchase sometime before your next class. Your class will meet anywhere from once a week to daily.

You have to haul a vast poundage of books to your dorm room, and are on your honor do do your homework. You have to resist the blandishments of your fellow collegegoers who will be trying to lure you to go play somewhere instead of study.

You have to resist them on your own.

You will have to work independently; you will also have group projects and have to behave in a mature fashion, while inevitably everyone else in your group is going to act like an idiot. (Murphy's law of group projects.)

In the meantime, you have to manage to feed yourself without gaining the freshman 15: (15 lbs freshman gain by living on junk food).

You have to make intelligent choices like refusing alcohol and drugs no matter how cool some party dude thinks it is. Peer pressure is for idiots. If you really want respect, you'll have a backbone.

Did I mention you're on your own?
