I don't know about you, but whenever I've met an American man, they always seem so much more polite than British men. It makes me quiver when an American man calls me ma'am! What do you think and why?

Both are rude!!! HAHA. Go Canada! The home of the polite...uh...except for my comment about both...being...rude....

I'd say British, but I'm American. But it depends on where in America. We're a big place you know. Southern gentlemen are generally the ones who say ma'am. Everyone thinks foreign men are more polite overall.

I do agree. it seems more acceptable to be rude to women in England, although they aren't all bad! some American men do seem to be more polite towards women though, I think its because they have a lot of old fashioned values over here!

Us British!
The problem is Automatic doors - get rid of them then the world will be a better place. There is no need to be polite anymore the naughty doors do it for us. Ahhhh.
I tried to say 'good morning' to a little old lady - she looked terrified and I swear she was thinking about bashing me with her pension book.

As a Brit, I'd say it depends how you were brought up ... I like to think I'm polite, but I don't call women "Ma'am". I hold doors open, give up my seat on buses and that sort of stuff ... and I always let them come first ;-)

my experience British,
American men are chip and they are not polite
but go to Canada, you'll see a real polite men

I think it's pretty impossible to make such huge sweeping generalisations....there are polite and rude men of both nationality. It depends upon where you are, what the situation is etc etc

wouldn't care less, all men, humans are the same despite the colour or nationality!! Can all be rude, polite, mean, kind etc. R all capable of doin the same things

Totally depends, on where u r in the uk/usa
We all watch the same tv.. and emulate whomever..
I have no tv, i think its why im more polite than most.
