I stumbled across this word in an e-mail forwarded to me. Here's an excerpt of the mail:
"It transpired that the old lady had cut off her son’s financial support and the son, knowing the ponpensity of his father to use the shotgun threateningly, loaded the gun with the expectation that his Father would shoot his Mother."
I checked the internet for an exact definition but couldn't find any. How can a word be used and not be found in any dictionary?

I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A SYNONYM OF "PROPENSITY"...BUT IT IS JUST A MISSPELLING EVIDENTALLY.

It was spelt wrong, the word should be "propensity", it means "tendency".
