If this is the case, then what happens when it is closed ? Does this mean that a new ice age is on the way ? So, should we be burning more fossil fuels to keep us warm and reopen the hole ?
Should I buy an American gas guzzler in an effort to save the world ?

go to www.bbc.co.uk there is an article on it written today where they state that the ozone hole appears to have stabilized. That is to say it is not growing anymore. Apparently it is currently the size of the north american continent. One of the scientists who initially discovered it states that hopefully it should close within the next 60 years

fossil fuels are not the reason for the ozone depletion, CFCs were and they are now banned. The closure of the ozone will be a good thing as it will filter out the harmful UV rays.

NO!!! I mean, yes, the ozone layer is closing, which is Good News! With such a big hole, UV rays will keep reaching the surface of the earth, which is bad, because the heat causes the polar ice caps in the nth and south pole to melt, thus endangering the innocent polar bears and penguins. =( We should allow it to close, so that lesser damage will be done. So, don't try to reopen the hole! It's not jsut one hole, there has been a few documented already.

Hi, Plz go through this link at the bottom. Its misinformation. The damage done is done. Its not that it is closing, but at the best we can try to put it back in its original levell. As of now it will take another 20 years..
It not that the Hole is going to close overnight like you shut the doors of your shop...

Yes it is closing. This is due to the decreased production of CFCs. The only problem is that some times volcanoes produce CFCs, and they won't stop production just because the nations of the world enact legislation to regulate them. Fortunately, no volcanoes are currently producing CFCs.
