Believe it or not, there was a Co. where I worked some years ago, where the boss told the supervisor he was leaving in charge to write up any employee who would`nt follow orders, and to fire `em if they gave any probs.

I doubt it maybe suspend them if they really did something wrong until the boss got back.

You are in charge to manage, not to hire or fire. If you think he needs to be evaluated, tell you boss when he gets back. I'm sure your report and your thoughts on this employee's behavior might bring your boss to reevaluate the guy's performance.
You are of no authority to make such decision. Besides, if you try to fire, he just might ignore you.

well co-operation is very important in getting things done. Well I suggest that we share everything equally. Need to execute on action like firing only on last resort, and re-hiring after that.

no, I think that you were put there to run things for a while, not make major decisions like that. Unless they did something outrageous, just let him/her know what is going on.
