While answering economics questions in exams, the foremost thing to concentrate on is to ensure that first you reply appropriately what is being asked. You may give references to other related issues but such references should be secondary.
Next is to give examples to substantiate what you have written by way of definition, explanation or theory in reply to the question. These examples could be atleast one traditional and one with modern times related to economy or economics.
Next is to put tabulations, wherever required or available. Smart use of statistical analysis, ratios, percentages etc pays a lot.
Next comes the depiction part in support of your theoretical example such as diagrams, charts, pie....
Overall, your answers should be relevant to the question being asked supported by good and adequate examples to exhibit that the concepts are clear to you and you can understand, explain and depict them correctly.
Please note that the above process of answering becomes quite lengthy and time consuming. So you have to keep in mind the proportion of time and marks allotted to each such question you are answering and adjust the inputs and lengths of the answers suitably. Of course, your writing speed and expression powers also count a lot.
All the best for your next scores.

till tenth i dint get good marks in economics, but in 11 n 12 i was topper, all bcoz of my teacher.i'll give u the tips which she gave:
1 regularly attend the classes n listen to ur teacher(do this only if ur teacher is good otherwise listening to a dumb teacher will confuse u)
2 whatever u study in class, revise it the same day, this will help u to remember for long(if u have some unavoidable work, revise as soon as possible)
3. before coming to class study the portion which is going to be taught in class, this will help in better understanding(i never did this, but if ur techer is not good, plz read b4 class, u'll get an idea of topic n u can even understand what ur teacher wants to explain, even if she is not good in explaining)
4 ans in points, if points not possible, in paragraphs[ along with the text try to express ur ans in tables or diag, this shows the teacher that u have good knowledge of subject]
something from my personal experience:
1 dont try to mug up, try to understand the subject( this applies for all subjects)
even if u understand something that doesnt mean u'll get good scores coz understanding n expressing are diff, for good scores pen down the things u understood n get it checked by some senior, if this is not possible, assess it urself comparing it with the book
2 wherever u have to draw diag, the diag should be big(draw in full page)this gives a good impression to the examiner, but draw the diag carefully coz in big diag if u do any mistake it will be clearly seen, thats y teachers prefer big diag
Hope my advice helps u
ALL THE BEST

if you like it you will study it better im sure
if you dont, just try to get average score it doesn't matter if youre not so good at economics...just try to listen to your economics teachers, try to remember what they teach you, and practice that at home. I think studying economics is not that hard , gud luck.
