Hi - congrats! It depends on how heavy it is - they make light ones, ones with wings for extra coverage, overnight when it can be heavier for extra protection and all levels in between. It really is preference - not all women prefer one brand but the main two or three are Always, Kotex, and Stayfree. Those are all good ones with all different levels. If you try tampons you may want to use a light day also called pantyliner pad underneath to make sure it is in right the first few times.
Kotex is a good brand - you want want to start with regular with or without wings and buying ones that are scented never hurt - so you feel fresh.
Always is also an excellent brand and their website has all questions that daughters ask mothers and all other questions about your period so look at it - you will feel better if all your questions are answered
http://www.always.com/en_us/pages/common.shtml?pageid=zn0002
Also, try to stay away from any feminine care powder, spray and douche - these can cause infections and throw off the good bacteria so you can use just a little baby powder on the outside if you want - you may not feel any need to at all.
Good luck - check these sites out and call all of them - tampax, always, kotex, stayfree, ob, playtex to get boxes of free samples of their pads and tampons - that is what I did back then. This way you don't have to buy tons of them to find out the best ones for you - so go to those website and go to their contact us link and call - don't be embarrassed or anything - call :o)

I like Stayfree, it comes in ultra-thin with wings so you have great protection and you barely notice it. It has a good adhesive so it doesn't slip. They are very absorbent unlike Always which tends to keep some of the discharge on top of the pad instead of soaked into it. And Stayfree doesn't make you sweaty like Always does
For pantyliner, on those light days, I like Kotex. I just recently tried them and they're great. They are absorbent similar to Stayfree. The Kotex adhesive is excellent, no bunching or slipping these pantyliners are excellent!

it really is extremely basically: incomes funds! you would possibly want to assert an same for bathing room paper. we ought to bypass to the lavatory, so why might want to we ought to pay for the paper? and easily, sanitary secure practices isn't extreme priced. you also do not ought to purchase them a week. you ought to purchase adequate for quite a few months and then each and each of the money you get, will be used for different issues. I continuously fill up and by no skill cutting-edge procuring secure practices because without it, i might want to be in problem.

Always with wings come in sooo many different sizes you are sure to find one that works for you. Target always has them on sale. They are now made with a cotton 'dry weave' covering that makes them extra comfortable to wear. They have slender, long, over-night, and they even come in plus sizes!! Also try their panty-liners for in between periods. I've NEVER had an accident when I wear Always!!

i have tried 'em all, but i say Stayfree. it's not made with a plastic top sheet, like Always is. it's incredibly unhealthy to have plastic touching your skin all day -- causes sweating, odor, itching, and even yeast infections.
Stayfree is cottony/comfortable, cheap, and it works. =)
