Why do people keep up on the tabloids? How do people keep so fascinated on the details of the unravelings of so and so celebrity? How does it enhance your life? I guess this is a criticism. I suppose it could provide a means to connect with your favorite actors on the silver screen, gossip material, and has some entertainment value. Personally, I find it incredibly trite and generally meaningless and unimportant.

People see what you want them to see. Have you been in a grocery store check-out lately? Where there used to be legitimate news, or Time Magazine at least, all you can find now is celebrity gossip, tabloids, and horoscopes. Maybe it's the Man; maybe it's the stupid consumers that only care about that stuff. Either way, in a supposed "democratic society", the government is making no effort to educate the public; actually they pay lots of money to make propaganda and control the public's opinion. It's just a stupid distraction to take our minds off of what's really going on. What war crimes we've committed today, which governments we've overthrown, people don't like to see that stuff.

Don't sugar coat it like that, tell us how you really feel.

Anyway, I don't understand the obsession with the personal lives of celebrities either.
