depends on what type of freon your car uses. If it is pre 1994ish you will probably need R-12 freon. Unless you are certified to purchase it, you will have to go to a service statioin. If your car is a later model it probably uses R-134a. This can be purcased at your local auto parts store. I have found the best deals at Bumper To Bumper.

This past year, the EPA released a notice that Air Conditioning Coolant, or Freon cannot be sold or resold to consumers without a proper license. You would usually buy tanks of Freon from Air Conditioning suppliers such as Carrier. The only other way of adding freon to your air conditioner would be to find someone who is licensed to do the work.

Freon is a Brand name, it isn't used much due to government regs.

If you have a 1993 or newer vehicle, the Refrigerant is "R134a", and you may purchase it and the adapter to put it in your A/C at any Auto Store or at WalMart.

You can buy a freon recharge kit from any of the big chain of automotive parts stores. Some don't like to carry it any more, however, because of issues of having it shipped to them from their suppliers.

Auto Zone or you may have to go to a machanic and have them order it depending on where you live they order it by the lb. so either way find out how much you need and you may want a proofessional to do it b/c it is a dangerous chemical and what is left over has to be disposed of in a special way ~~~~Good Luck

any refrigeration air conditioning supplier but you must have a licience to purchase it. if your car is old it still may be r12 gas and this is no longer available so irt will need to be chabged . best bet take it to a profeesional car airconditioning business. make sure they hold the current liciences that are required by law.
