Kinda morbid, but I am curious. Should someone start bleeding copiously, what would the medical implications be regarding only the lack of blood? If the bleeding was staunched at the time they pass out , would they regain consciousness without a transfusion or would the shock be too great for them to recover naturally?

Generally speaking I mean, every case varies etc.

If somebody loses enough blood to lose consciousness from the blood loss, itself, it is doubtful that they will come back without a transfusion. It takes a good deal of blood loss to put you out.

Now, people have what we refer to as "merciful syncope" in which they pass out at the sight of their own blood. This obviously does not spell disaster.

Unconsciousness caused by copious sudden blood loss needs a transfusion or if blood is not immediately available with plasma expanders like Dextran. Spontaneous recovery is possible with tissue fluid moving into blood vessels but leaves the patient morbid with Anemia and tissue dehydration with long term bad effects including renal failure.

It probably depends how much blood they already lost and how healthy that person is. But apart from the blood they need enough fluid in their veins.
