I am sure we have a AMD x64 dual core processor for desktops but do we have one for laptops ? I want to go for a laptop.. I am in a fix if I should go for a AMD x64 processor (assuming there is only a single processor) or Intel Centrino Duo.. if we have a AMD x64 Dual Core in a laptop... I guess the answer would be easy. What do you suggest ?

Yes.

AMD has desktop and mobile (laptop) CPUs, both of which support 64-bit processing, and both of which come in dual-core variations.

The desktop CPU is the Athlon64, and the mobile CPU is the Turion.

The dual-core versions of both chips are called X2.

So if you are looking for an AMD, 64-bit, dual-core laptop CPU, you want a Turion x2.
