because larussa doesn't have a pitching staff he can rely on. izzy is just about thru, but he's all the birds have got.

He's not a bad manager, it's hard to be when you are 3rd all-time among wins. But I think his flaw is that he has some kind of a crazy love affair with Izzy. He's clearly not a dominant closer. I think he wants to display confidence in his stopper. But you'd have to think, if Izzy didn't close, who would? But Izzy needs more work before I would throw him out in a playoff game with a 1 run lead.

I was at the game last night and Shea was really hopping. What a special night.
It looked to me like Looper had better momentum than Izzy had. But that's easy to say in retrospect. Chris Duncan made a beautiful catch in left field in the first inning and Albert is just amazing.
The Mets never gave up. That's what's so great about this team. Carlos and Carlos got the job done.
