Should gay men be allowed to have sex in public because it is in their 'nature' to cruise for sex since society condemns and represses them? Do gay men have a special excuse for breaking law because of their 'culture'?

This is a biased question. People both 'straights' and 'gay' have sex anywhere. Some just like a bit of adventures and some are exhibitionist. It has nothing to do with ones sexual orientation.

Men Having Sex In Public

It seems to be a part of the gay/bi culture, especially for men, but I know of no one who brags about taking part in it. I think it would be terribly degrading to do that, especially on a continuing basis. You would be surprised who actually gets caught up in this type of thing though. Often its married men or even recently divorced men who just need a release. A lot of them are actually bi though too. From what I have been told, it can be terribly addicting to the point where the poor chap can't stop what he is doing. Some police officers do choose to ignore the issue, especially since they have other more pressing problems to deal with. Another thing I can say is that those who get caught up in this kind of behavior often get to know one another and thus feel safer when they see another sex-seeker around a known site. It's sort of a shadey side of the gay/bi lifestyle that one is better to avoid altogether.

I see straight people having sex in public toilets way more than gay people. Is it part of the straight culture? Do straight people have a special excuse for breaking the law because of their 'culture'?

Freaks me out more to see straight people doing it because one of them is always in the wrong restroom.

Do you actually know any gay people or is this a case of you coming up with things because you heard or read something somewhere? Questions to cure ones ignorance is cool but insults thinly veiled as questions is not cool.

Hi Ashley!! :o) You have asked a legitimate question. I live across the street from a large public park. Many gay males 'meet' there for the purpose of having sex. I think they should all be arrested. Do they have a special excuse for breaking the law? Not at all. But sometimes - it seems that way. It has got to the point where the police avoid the park [across from where I live] so they don't have to deal with it. [Lest they be blasted as homophobes and charged by the more militant within the so-called 'gay community' with harrassment] But is it the 'nature' of a gay man to have sex in public? No - not at all. Not anymore than it is for any man. It's the 'nature' of a pervert. And until the so-called 'gay community' is willing to draw a line in the sand insofar as what IS and what is NOT appropriate behavior for those within 'their' community - their reputations will continue to be tarnished by those who are NOT behaving in ways that are considered decent. [Whether they like it or not] Sadly - that's probably not going to happen any time soon. At least not if one goes by some of the responses you have already received. [And by some of the responses I have read to other simliar question posted here at Yahoo Answers] Instead of dealing directly with your question - SOME have chosen to defend those who break the law by shaming you for even asking the question. What cowards. Being gay is not an excuse. A gay individual [and that includes someone like ME] is just as responsible for their behavior as anyone else is. NO ONE has a 'right' to have sex in a PUBLIC PARK!! Craig!! :o)

Straight couples do that too, you know. Actually, more straight couples do that than gay couples, just because of the fact that the vast majority of couples are straight ones.

I'm not really sure about whether or not people should be allowed to have sex in public.

On one hand, the thought of public sex disgusts me.

But on the other hand, i recognize that this reaction is due to the culture i live in, and is not based in rational thought; as far as i know, public sex doesn't actually harm other people.

I'd consider sex in public toilets to be alright, in that it's still a more or less private setting. However, it should be illegal in the case of individuals who have STDs; the risk of transmission, however low, far outweighs someone's desire to have sex in a public restroom.

LOL, more straight ppl are out there having sex in public places than homosexuals. Go learn about life before you bash what you do not know.

PS - Your Yahoo description says:
I'm a single gay 30 year old Australian man who teaches English for a living. I live in Sydney.

I'm not getting why you're hear bashing us and yourself. Did you just get dumped? If not, consider therapy or some kind of professional help. All this anger is not healthy.

When I was straight, I had sex everywhere you can think. I did chicks in a booth at a bar, standing at a pool table, in the middle of a clothing store, parks, pools, lakes, the beach, driving down the autobahn in Germany at 200mph... So what you only notice gay peoples having sex? Sounds a bit like a fixation to me.

That is not apart of the gay culture - it is just a part of perversion in general. The gay culture has not cornered the market on this - there is plenty of it happening in the straight community as well. So next time you decide to start cleaning someones house, start with your own.

This seems to be a common practice among certain types, but that does not make it a part of gay culture, and should be punished to the full extent of the law.
I know many gays who would take great exception to your denigrating characterization of gay culture.
