China's presence in Tibet is an annexation of that country.
China was itself invaded by Japan in the years before the Communists came to power in 1949. If you are familiar with the film The Last Emperor it shows how the Japanese ruled Manchuria and renamed it Manchuko and installed Pu Yi as a puppet emperor with no real power,

Yes, If you know your history well, China was at first a very small piece of land, it was through invasions and wars and reunifications by certain kings or lords.
