Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado. Also Alaska, but I'm not sure about New Mexico.

East of the Mississippi:

Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois.

In addition, the Mississippi runs through Louisiana and Minnesota, but I wouldn't say they're in the East.

Starting from the north, we have Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. All of these are on the east coast. But your question is ambiguous, and it could be inferred that you want all the states east of the Mississippi River, which would add a dozen or so more.
