I am from Slovenia. I suppose our best specialties are mostly drinks. There is Medica (pronounced Meditsa) and medina - both very rich and sweet honey brandys - very warming and delicious. Also there is borovnicavec - a blueberry liqueur. Both of these can hold their own with any alcohol in the world!
Also there is a type of cured meat called pršut - a bit like parma ham and very good in sandwiches.
