Get Dreamweaver trial for 30 days or use these free popular editors:
CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor 8.0
http://www.coffeecup.com/free-editor/
Evrsoft First Page 2006
http://www.evrsoft.com/1stpage3.shtml
Those are WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editors which give you the opportunity to edit html pages like you were using a rich text editor, but in the same time view the code it produces.
If you are a coder, you may want to use
Notepad++, a free software that supports many languages and has a lot of features (note that this is not wysiwyg).

Try NVU pronounced Newview - no shared borders - but quite good. When you do a hyperlink you have to "end the link too. But my niece is only 10 and she did a few good pages with it and she had never done web design before - so how hard can it be. I don't think you need FrontPage extensions on the server either. I must try it again. It is slower to use than FrontPage - but I suppose that is probably something you can get used to.
Don't forget to give me top answer - I'm close to going up a level. Another 95,000 points and I'll be at the top of the leader-board! That guy on 100,000 points must be seriously addicted to this...

Free HTML editor? One of the most flexible html editors available ships freely with every copy of windows: Notepad. For previewing changes I recommend the refresh button in IE/Firefox.

I've found a good one to use is AceHTML. Have a search for their site. their home page will probably show you the commercial version but there will be a link on there somewhere to their free versions. It'll probably be called AceHTML freeware. they also do a good FTP program (unsurprisingly called AceFTP) which also has a freeware version and the 2 can link together.
Think the site is http://software.visicommedia.com or something like that.
Hope that helps.
