Evolution, creation, what's the diff here?

It all began with mud, either way.

Clay, mud, same diff.

Anyway, the category is "Philosophy" so let's all be nice. :)

Here's a little hint to get you all off that evo-creo stuff, I'm not getting after any of that stuff whatsoever.

A character in a story once reflected on his life, and thought, "at least I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around...."

Meaning, no matter what else he could say about it (life) at least he got to be here ...

2nd reminder: this was asked under philosophy, not biology or religion or mythology, so please lay off that stuff.

thanks.

The translation confused the word to mean mud. The "earth" spoken of is more correctly "sounding clay"

I believe I am more than just water and carbon. Or do you just mechanically respond to stimulus? Is there really any thought behind your actions? Where does the thought actually reside?

The brain is a muscle responding to bio-mechanical, electrical stimuli...is that all we are?

I disagree.

So my answer, with all the above in mind...is...erm, well...actually I feel very fortunate. Life is beautiful.

I remeber lying in that mud pile and thinking...i wonder what it would be like to have a shower, get dressed, and go to work for nine hours a day and not have any one appreciating the hard work i've done? Other than finding out it's crap, i think the fact that my brain has evolved enough for me to wonder why i think and am makes me glad i'm no longer stuck in the mud!

Of course. Why would anyone think otherwise? But apparently you are of the opinion that we are just muck that sat up and looked around, or dust in the wind, etc. So let me ask you this, is it all just an accident that we have the means to communicate with each other on this issue via the internet, because we just accidentally got to the point where we could communicate this way?

Clay and mud are not organic compounds that took part in evolution. They could have been media in which organic compounds evolved. It sounds like you are a creationist and still believe that God created life out of dust/mud/clay. Nonetheless. I'm happy for my life!

Careful not to taunt the thumpies, they will find a way to say Adam and Eve were the mud.

When something is forced on you and you have no choice in the matter the question of lucky or unlucky does not arise
