My computer started going weird after I left a friend use it to surf random sites. I have a red & white box that keeps on appearing on my PC telling me that my laptop is infected & that there is a critical system error. A symbol that kind of looks like a no entry appears in the bottom right hand corner of the status bar. I run antispyware & virus software and it can't get the following off my computer Trojan Downloader. Win32.Zlob.ci & SpywareQuake 2.0. How in the world can I get this off? HELP!!!

Try using another antispyware.antivirus software. Different software companies have different virus/spyware databases. If all else fails, try using Windows System Restore and restore the system back to before you let your friend use the computer.

Hi.

If you have your original disks that came with the computer, I recommend re-installing the OS. First, reformat the harddrive. Then install Windows Defender.

Here's a helpful site:

The only sure way I've ever found to solve Winblows problems is to partition it's drive and reinstall windows. This sux very badly. Sorry, bud.

Try system restore otherwise you may have to reformat. If you do then a disc cleaner like acronis is a good idea to make sure it is destroyed.
