where did you get that info? A current affiar, Today Tonight... and most of the times the late show of "media watch" disproves most of the allegations the public affair shows state. I don't trust it... I am shocked with the fact that they have blatantly put that statistic on but what can you do? Plus look at the reliability of statistics. who knows... they could have asked 10 people or 50 people... percentages are good liars. you need to see how many people voted in order to see the whole picture. I hope it's not true cuz Australia is really a nice place. They are nice here.

Yes, I have heard that sometime ago. They have been smart to wake up to the fact that no society in history has ever lasted under multi culturalism. It has been the death of all great societies in the world. Each great societies has last shorter and shorter time do to it. The USA is a dying nation because of our lack to realize or better our government caring about it. Sad but true.
I applaud them.

Multiculturalism has been sold to Americans for about twenty years now. But it has major flaws. Unlike you, I am encouaged if over 99% of Australians want to get rid of this sociological and educational approach.
Multiculturalism teaches people to be "proud" of their racial and ethnic background and heritage. It sounds good, until you realize what is being done as a result of this approach. We have for example, now a Black History Month (Feb.), in which public schools all over the U.S. are encouraged to include some information about great African-American personages from the past. But "multiculturalism" teaches people to attach their identity to their skin color or ethnicity, not to their values or interests, not to matters that reflect the spirit and integrity of the existent individual. The real influence of African-Americans on science and politics, etc. is not great (relative to others) because of the terrible legacy of slavery and the still-very-real racism of American society. But, youths are led to value these lesser achievements in the claim that they should be "proud" of their "heritage". African-American children are encouraged to believe that they are themselves to be valued because some guy with similar skin color invented peanut butter. It is the future of all - including people of every "race", that must be considered positively, not the tired past of oppression and consequent lesser achievement.
Pride is not a valid emotion; all that is enjoyed and achieved is given by god, regardless of appearances. (the achievements of the "white race" are just gifts from God, and are nothing to be "proud" of). I don't like the idea of people thinking they are something special because of the color of their skin at birth. It's stupid. Martin Luther King, Jr. is my greatest hero. It's not because he has the same skin color as I have (I am of French extraction), not because of where I was born. It is because I share his values, his mind. I have a real kinship with Dr. King that is, I believe, deeper than the great majority of African-Americans. If Dr. King were alive today he would deplore people attaching "pride" to the stupid color of skin - even if the greater pride would then be got by darker-skinned Americans.
