Usually most places don't want you to bring in a child under age 7. Your child would probably not enjoy it anyway and get antsy before long. The experience may spoil your time as well -- and at what cost to the pocketbook! How about a local children's production of an hour or less in length? The timing's right and the atmosphere is usually more casual -- and far less expensive!

A child should not even be taken to NYC until 13 or 14. There is nothing worse than a child in the way in a city. If a five year old can sit down (stay there) shut up (and even breathe quitely) and only speak when spoken too, then you can bring them. If they break these rules then take them out NOW. You can't even have your cell phone on and YOU want to bring a 5 year old. YOU may just be an unfit parent if you bring children to NYC.

I guess it depends on what the show is about. If there's a lot of suggestive scenes or dialogue, then I say no. Otherwise, I see no problem with it. However, most 5 year olds I know of won't be able to sit still for more than 10 minutes. You'll probably be spending half the time taking them to the washroom, buying them snacks, etc.

Probably not a good idea--wait until the child is at least 8 or 9.

Speaking from experience, I have no problems with kids at shows. However, when they cry etc it ruins it for everyone. And generally speaking show tickets are expensive and it isnt right for everyone else's enjoyment to be deminished. If I got a choice I would definiately leave the kids at home.

i am sure as long as they are quiet, it would be fine. starting them on theatre at a young age is a good idea! it will help them learn to appreciate the finer things in life!
