I was at home with my grand daughter, with the news on. I saw the first plane hit, and called my sister in PA. She tried to pull it up on the net, but it was too busy and couldn't get to it.
All of a sudden, the second plane hit.
The people that were being interviewed were all speculating on what had happened to the first plane...was it coming in too low, was it just an accident.......
But when the second one his, it was very obvious. I couldn't stop crying. A day I will never forget, and can only pray that other Americans don't either.
I know you won't, for sure. What a way to remember your child's birthday. I'm sorry.

I was in junior high which isn't too far away from Ground Zero. We heard the crash and thought it was thunder because that's what it sounded like. We didn't believe it when we were first informed about what really happened but we found out the truth when we looked out one of the hall windows.
My math teacher closed the blinds on the windows so we couldn't see all the fire trucks whizzing by. Since the junior high school was close, we all had to be picked up by our parents. That was not a fun day, my place of residence is even closer to Ground Zero than my junior high school. We even got air purifiers because we lived so close.

In thrid grade. I had no clue what was going on, the terrorists attacked after I was in shcool and they never told us what was happening. It wasn't until the afternoon that my MOm told me what happened. I saw the news and it looked so serious I saw the smke on the streets and people running and the planes crashing. I went to my enighbors house later on. I forget all the rest except walking into shcool the next morning and having a discussion about it.

I was watching TV getting ready for work and we saw the second plan crash live into the building.. I live in KS but I was scared and looked up in the sky and saw all airplanes turned right around and headed back to the airport.
Then I went to work and huddled over by my co-workers and watched the day unfold!

I was getting ready to celebrate my birthday (9/12) at home with my family. Instead we were all just grateful that my husband's meeting in NYC set for that day was cancelled. We spent the rest of the day looking for people we know and clutching our kid.
Funny thing was we had just taken down our flag from labor day - I mean that day or the day before - and within hours of hearing we put it back up and the neighborhood was covered with them.
We lost a family member that day - a really great 30 year old brother in law, who was speaking at a meeting in the restaurant on the top floor. The loss of him continues to impact us today.
Peace!
(please)

I cant believe it now that I say it but I was in my 4th grade classroom. My daddy was supposed to fly home that day (he didn't though! Thank God!) so when my teacher told us I started balling my eyes out. Now I am in high school. It seem like it just happened. I can remember it and feel the pain in my heart when I think about it like it was just yesterday that this all went on. It is so mind blowing!

I was at home, getting ready for work. I had my 3 year old daughter with me, and we were both watching "Dragon Tales". I got a call after it happened, but with PBS, they had no coverage. All I'm hearing is kiddie songs. So my wife called and told me and I blew it off until I dropped my daughter off and made it to work. Then I saw the coverage, and I still cant explain how seeing that made me feel.
