When people say a "third eye" ritual, does it actually mean a thrid eye? Like a real third eye sitting on your fore-head or something like that? (no smart-alleck comments please)

And also, is self-hypnosis just like day-dreaming?

Although I don't know about a third eye ritual, I've had a couple third eye experiences before in deep meditation--and yes, it is very much like an eye has opened in the center of your brain. It's a very strange sensation and difficult to hold onto for more than a couple seconds, and I hope next time it happens to me I'm able to stay away from the knee-jerk "this is weird" reaction and explore it for a while.

Self-hypnosis...hmm. It's not at all like daydreaming, but in a way it is. Try some meditation--the trick is not to concentrate on thinking about nothing, but instead let the thoughts just float on by without noticing them. (This actually works, believe it or not.) Once you reach a meditative state, and it's quite easy to tell, let thought of whatever you are trying to hypnotize yourself with slide through your mind, again, not really noticing them much. Try to keep them as far fromyour conscious, thinking mind as possible.

The "third eye" is a term originally from Hindu beliefs. It is one of the chakras, or energy centers within the human aura arranged along the spine. The third eye or "ajna chakra" is located just above the top of your nose, above the eyebrows just below the center of your forehead. There is not actual eye there, but this is supposed to be the seat of "astral vision" so it is referred to as an "eye".

Many people in the west these days practice chakra meditation. It is an esoteric theory from both yoga and tantra, two Hindu meditation practices. It can be practiced without the necessity of embracing the Hindu religion, so it doesn't make you a "pagan" or anything like that ( unless you want to be one, of course).

I don't know of any "rituals" involving the third eye, but I suppose they might be talking about an exercise or meditation to open the third eye so your psychic vision is easier to use.

In any case, I can't really say more without more context.

I hope this little bit is helpful.

The "third eye" is your pineal gland. Go to your Yahoo! browser, select "Images" then enter "third eye pineal gland". Look for a diagram of a cross-section of the human head, and you'll see the little thing embedded in the middle of everything. It's believed by gazillions to be the physical location of the 'pathway' to higher consciousness or the inner spiritual realm ('the kingdom within')

Depending on the esoteric, mystic group that you are referring to

The "third eye" is a way of saying that you will have the ability to "see" in a more refined form....normally after some training in meditation/contemplation/"zen"/"mantras"/spiritual exercises/"metaphysics".........the terms change, but the basic concept remains....after undergoing some form of learning/training/exercise.....mystic, that is.....you attain an awareness-special, refined, spiritual, mystical, etc etc etc etc

your "third eye"

about the self-hypnosis....it's more like deep meditation, contemplation techniques...like REM sleep but awake and aware

hey there i don't know if this will answer your question or not but i believe that the third eye is the eye of the spirit world. to open your third eye is to open up to the spiritual world a world of higher consciousness. so it would stand that a third eye ritual would be a ritual designed to open you up to the spiritual world. shaman used to smoke certain plants and or eat special fungi in rituals before they would head off in to the spirit world for guidance.

no, having a third-eye means you can communicate with ghosts. sometimes, your third-eye can just open without a ritual. and hypnosis isn't like daydreaming 'cause in hypnosis, someone controls you, not like in daydreaming, 'cause sometimes even you can't control yourself!

Hope this helps! :)
