I am a very curious person, I am middle aged, used to teach and LOVE to learn.

To me, my questions are not real personal, and are not meant to find out (extremely) personal info about anyone.

I have deleted two of my questions because I have been personally "attacked" for asking them.

If I was younger I would be a psychologist AND a vet, IF that were even possible.

It took me a long to "get" my true calling( I guess you could say I have two!) but since then, I ask others about them and their pets.

Its just to get a feel for how people think, and interests they have..

So, have you ever been personally attacted for questions that you have asked on here. In other words, the people answering judge YOU and not the question.

Thanks in advance for your response.

S.

Good point first off.
The anonymity of the site allows people to act in a way they never would in 'real' life - hence the ranting of the religious or rascist, or political. And of course the abusives.
Not everyone here is out to help or advise but we do have freedom of speech at least and we have to take the rough with the smooth.
Its only words though and to stop that would go against the democracy of the site.
As some wise Q/A person said once " opinions are like rrrsholes, everyones got one and they usually stink"

I do understand what you are saying. Not by asking question on hear but asking one outside the computer world and i have been judge based my question even made fun of for asking such simple minded questions. Sometimes you have to talk on a level that you think everyone will understand. For instance the people that posted before me dont even know what you are talking about or think you are not asking a question.

Because most people ask questions relating to them. I try not to so I don't get their nasty opinions. I try to keep my questions about something else. Sometimes they even call you stupid for your question. Either way you can't win. You will have people totally rude and some who aren't like that. That's a part of life. People will judge.

Please go back and look at my question about my "found sister". I had one person verbally attack me. Boy, was I judged by that person and they were so wrong.
Sometimes people on here are great and really want to help, but others just want to use their keyboard to spit venom and hurt others feelings.
I think this is a valid question and thank-you for asking.

No, I haven't noticed many judgments or personal attacks. I have noticed (and been irked by) plenty of answers that are completely irrelevant to the question.

Well that is a little sensitive. You have to understand there are some crazy people out there like the "what should I do?" guy. It is annoying. It is just like some people are different when they are in their cars, some people do stuff online they wouldn't do in person. Get over it.

That's one of the reasons I've lobbied Yahoo to allow the "Asker" to have the power to delete offending answers to their questions. I think it would be a good way to police ourselves, instead of waiting for weeks and weeks for Yahoo to eventually get around to deleting the offending remarks.

For myself, I'm guilty of being sarcastic to people that HAVE IT COMING. When the question is genuine, however, it gets my undivided attention.

Good question you have here, by the way.

It's the limit of human intelligence 90% of the time, most everywhere - here, there, online, or not.
