If i use my own computer at an internet cafe, will the IP address only be traced backed to the cafe or can it somehow be traced back to my computer?

any IP is tracked. In an internet cafe usually the usage is monitored so that when you use a PC you get identified and the IP address assigned to you.
So if you do something foolish and they go back to the internet cafe they can go back to you shortly.
It takes less than 48 hours to identify you in any part of the world.

Technically, with proper access, you can probably trace the data packet and find out her IP/Mac Address of the Internet Cafe router and its location. In a nutshell, when you communicate with her, the data packet are being routed through many "check points" until it reach its destination. Each check points has its own IP address. My guess is you cannot see where packet went through after it went through the Glove Telecoms ISP, probably for a security reason. This is just my two cents though, I am not an expert on the subject, just some dude on the Internet.

Most of the cafes have logging mechanisms in place. You may have to register your laptop and they may note the MAC address which can be used to trace (like the first poster suggested) your system.

It only track back to cafe if someone trace IP.

Well...it depends...if the cafe has a router or some other sophisticated networking device....then firstly....they will find the cafe using the IP address...and they will find u using the MAC address mapped on to the router.

To the cafe, but the cafe will give out the info to help the cops, that is if you gave them real name and stuff and payed with credit card.

they can traced the ip address of the server and the ip of the computer even if you set up a laptop in the white house if .G.W.BUSH said so

Only to the service provider of the cafe! if you are doin naughty stuff you can still be found and I WONT tell you how this is done.
