LOL, Kansas girl here. Amazing we pay our farm workers decent wages, and the food we harvest doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Those combines and harvesters, cost over $100,000 for the top ones. Americans save about $50 a year using migrant labor. It is time to END ALL MIGRANT WORKER PROGRAMS. We don't need them. The ag giants control the cost of food, and how much a farm worker will get paid. ADM and Monsanto make billions in profits off the food, yet the workers and family farmers get the scraps. Florida tomato pickers (migrants) went on strike and got there wage increase of $5000 a year. yep, $5000 a year. They now make about $15,000 a year picking crops. and your cost? not $20 a pound for tomatoes. Nope. A measly TWO CENTS A POUND INCREASE! Five cents a pound would pay workers $20,000 a year plus some benefits!

Do you mean interpretor or translator? The skills are different. In either case fees depend on the language. A Western European language interpretor costs up to a few hundred pounds (say £400) a day; a rare and hard language can be more, as will qualified simultaneous interpreters (a rare, specially-trained skill and mainly hired for conferences). A non-professional or part-time interpretor can be much, much less, especially if there is an established community of immigrants speaking that language.

A translator needs to be proficient in the subject matter. If you are going to publish the result, you have to be extremely careful and get a native speaker from the target industry who lives and works in the target country to review the text. I have seen horrendous mistakes otherwise. Teachers of the language are the worst because they are accustomed to tolerating mistakes in students' efforts at the language.

The only way you will get a fair quote is to ask the professionals; I doubt that Yahoo! Answers includes enough endusers to produce a valid response . . .

But perhaps you aren't serious and are making a joke about Scottish pronunciation of English or Scottish gaelic.

Don't worry mate...I think all of the Scots have moved to Southern England and taken over the TV and Politics. They seem to spend their time telling us how good Scotland is but don't want to live there themselves....however you may need Polish ?

Believe it or not, they speak English there. As long as you do, you will be fine. If you are worried about Gaelic it is mostly only spoken now on the Isle of Skye.
