For warmth: Woolen mittens keep your hands warmer because your body heat builds up from each individual finger and that helps keep all the fingers warm.

For ease: Gloves make it easier to handle objects (car keys and steering wheels for instance)

That OJ thing about the gloves, isn't true.
I had a really good pair of leather gloves I wore all
winter until the end of April. The next October,
they DIDN'T fit. My other gloves fit.
I hated knowing this.

I prefer gloves because you can still grab things well with gloves because your fingers are separated out. You have a beter grip.
