Stripping the window dressing and the political statement, the root cause of terrorism, or forcing one's will on another, is CONTROL. Somebody wants to be in control. Oh there is a cause, ostensibly, but the so-called pure of heart who deeply believe in the cause are martyred early for maximum gain according to the machinations of the ambitious elite. In any revolution, the believers will be shoved aside. Useful as soldiers, but dangerous to the ambitious. Che Guevara was far more useful to Fidel Castro dead after the revolution was completed. Doesn't matter the cause -- Environment, Organic, Middle East, GE Foods, Politics, Equal Rights, Saving the Trees, Gay Rights -- there are always those ambitious stars who want to control, and the cause is merely the vehicle for their ambition. The true believers do all the work and expect nothing in return except change. If the change comes, the true believers are always sacrificed on the altar of expediency and pure ambition. So CONTROL is the real root of terrorism or any ism that requires change forced on the masses.

"Terrorism" itself is a misleading word. A powerful country with a strong military can attack with bombs and missiles from many miles away ... but they call individuals with small weapons "terrorists." Personally, I think a missile is much more terrifying than a guy with a stick of dynamite taped to his tummy. So, the root cause of terrorism is ... not having the resources to have bigger bombs. Don't ever trust anybody who calls people terrorists, because it just means that the other guy has fewer weapons, and has to get close to use them. Morons like Fox News and Dick Cheney use biased words like "terrorists."

(1) Islamic terrorism, such as suicide bombers, is due to a complete sense of frustration in trying to regain the Palestine that the U.N. gave to what is now Israel.
(2) Israeli terrorism, such as their recent U.S. financed Blitzkrieg of Lebanon, is due to extreme overreaction to Islamic terrorism.
(3) Other terrorisms, such as in Africa, are due to the world bank support of dictatorial regimes, instead of direct help to the people there.
(4) In the background, cheering them all on, are arms manufacturers here and abroad who need wars to sell their stuff.

it would be so easy just to give you an answer... but it is not.
However to me is:
1. because there is a system (the American) that has to step over others' rights in order to preserve itself.
2. Ignorance. Most of the islamic countries to not want to let knowledge be passed around otherwise cannot manipulate people to mantain their opulence (at least those of their leaders)
3. USA has not always supported freedom but also created Osama to fight Russia, supported Saddam to fight Iran, supported Pinochet to stop communism in Chile.
And there is more if you are willing to search online... :))
PEACE TO YOU!

Lack of education. Ill educated people are easily swayed to believe in the propoganda that terrorist groups spew. Running a close second is economic oppression--the inabilty to find work and support your family would probably turn you bitter pretty quick.

You'll find injustice behind every act of terrorism. If you want peace, 'fight' for justice.
