because people see their friends wearing Abercrombie, Hollister, AE, and Urban Outfitters, and they are pressured into buying the same clothes. The domino effect occurs, and those companies become richer. It's not like ripped and stained clothing is so much more attractive than normal clothing that doesn't look like it's been through a shredder. I try to avoid those stores as much as possible, unless i find something that's not expensive and doesn't have a huge label printed on it

because they have the designer price tag that many suburban kids can actually afford, and it's also readily available at their local mall, not just in exclusive city's like some high end retailers. i personally like all the preppy stores and i don't find them expensive at all i mean a pair of jeans for 100 dollars really isn't that bad a price.

Too many damn preps running around supporting them, that's why. They are all over the place too, even in discount retailers. Evryone has a chance to wear them so I guess that's the reason.
