Hi Nicole..... gee honey,,, how long did you know she was going to be there,,,? Anyway,, too late to worry about it now.. just try talking to her a little at a time... She is not going to roll over on you because you are not as fluent as you were...
Next thing,,,, now that you see what has happened,, I suggest to you to practice your Spanish as much as possible... it is your heritage and you should be proud of it... I wish that I knew more languages than I do ....... or knew them more proficient....

Good luck and tell Grandma,,,,, Hola for me......

I assume that you now live in the USA. Since your grandmother is now with you in the USA, encourage her to learn English. At the same time you will strengthen your Spanish speaking skills. This provides a perfect opportunity for the both you.

By the way, admitting your shortcomings to an older relative should never cause them any hurt. Rather, it should make them proud that you admit them and want to work on fixing them.

Good luck to you! Please pass my welcome to the USA along to your grandmother.

Tell her it is polite and correct to speak the language of the country that you are living in.

Just talk to her it will come back in no time, I am sure she would be understanding just explain it to her if you get stuck. Grandma always understands, usually no matter what.
