TL- Statics show that slightly more girls are conceived in pregnancy than boys. Plus, there is the whole sex selection abortion thing where they get an abortion every time it's a girl until they finally have a boy.

don't female births still exceed male births. if yes, then it only makes sense that more females are terminated than males.

Yes, and girls still outnumber boys. So wouldn't that have something to do with that? Also if a woman could just transfer the fetus to a willing father the story would be also different. An other point is not all abortions are used as birthcontrol . And the funny thing is in the countries where the choice is selective abortion if is usually not the mothers decision but the fathers or "family".

Are you sure about the proportion? Seems to me that the present sex ratio in the U.S (at least) suggest about a 50-50 chance of a fetus having an XX.

The irony is that if women had a real choice in deciding when they got pregnant through fertility controls and the financial independence to hold off until they were ready, it is likely that a fair number of abortions would never take place due to the lack of unwanted pregnancies.

It's ironic that some girls have no other means to prove their worth to their society and subcultures except by getting pregnant even when they are incapable of caring for the child when it's born and the fathers are often nowhere around.

I don't think that kind of "gender selection" goes on in the USA. I know stuff like that happens in places like China because boys are highly prized in their culture.

I'd like to see some kind of source as to where you got this information just to see.

And whether you agree with it or not, abortion is legal. in the USA. While I do not think I could do that myself, there are extenuating circumstances that I woudl understand why a woman would have an abortion. I do not condone it for birth control purporses, though. You can be judgmental all you want, but until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, you really have no right to tell them what to do with their lives. They must live with the consequences of their actions.

Slightly more girls conceived; slightly more girls born. No irony at all.
'Not happy with the gender' is no grounds for getting an abortion and never has been. Most abortions are performed before the gender is clearly visible externally.
I understand you want to turn it into an emotive issue but try to stick to the medical facts.

This is a cultural thing, and especially true in countries like India. In Agarian cultures, males are more capable of field work, therefore the family prospers (and also is the reason for the continued population growth...the more kids the better). This is creating a strange phenomena driving males to homosexuality and in India as homosexuality is illegal, some males become eunuchs to serve as prostitues ( which is not so bad)...truck stops in India teem with them.

How specifically do you know what percentage are male and female? Have you got any stats to back up this claim?

The only way you would know this for a fact is if you had a sonogram and I'll tell you right now that few, if any, people who go to the trouble of paying for and having a sonogram have any intention of aborting the child.

So, basically, you've spreading untruths here.

Whats even more amazing is that women (some) rationalize being scraped out at almost any stage of the pregnancy because THEY were irresponsible. The time for "choice" is before the legs are spread.

Not ironic at all. It takes one to know one.
I would not bring a girl to this world for anything.

The whole "woman's choice" thing means that it's the mother's choice, not every woman in the world.

Human embryos are not humans. Nor are they human babies, human children, or anything of the sort. Anyone who says so has no respect for humanity, society, and individual rights. Aborting them is quite akin to menstruating and cleaning the pipes.
Women, on the other hand, ARE human. It is absolutely ridiculous to pretend that a woman's comfort is worth less than an "innocent" bunch of cells that has the potential to become a human being.
