Yes, you can make friends and hang out with anybody.

My best friend's daughter was diagnosed with autism almost ten years ago, and she loves to hang out with my children. They read books and talk about them, play video games and pretend to be spies, and have a great time together. In this girl's case, the main concern with her autism is that she's very sensitive to loud places. So we pay attention to her any time all the kids go to a video arcade or other loud, fun place.

What you can do with other people depends on how your autism presents. My oldest daughter was a teaching assistant to an autistic child who was a talented artist (she was assisting in an art class) but could not speak; he communicated with her by writing on the computer and through sign language (of which she learned a little). So you will need to make sure your new friends are able to deal with whatever special situations apply to you.

But you know what? EVERYONE does that with their friends -- that's what friends do, they look out for each other, and they do things that they enjoy.

Good luck to you!

It depends on what kind of autism you have. IF your a mathematical genius but your stare out the window all day and grunt then the answer is no. There has to be some state of normalcy that "normal" people can relate to. So really all depends on how weird your really are.

of course you can. any interesting, fun, likeable person can make friends regardless of what condition you may be in. People are ignorant as hell in this world, so make sure you pick the good ones :) good luck.
