All crocodilians lay eggs. Crocs, gators, caymans, ghavials, they all lay eggs.

The animals you have mentioned i.e. Alligators,Crocodiles along with Gharials and Caimans have Physical, Physiological and Geographical variations.

But all of them belong to order Crocodilia of Class Reptilia (or Sauropsida if you like ; Remember Dinosaur?)

All of them are Oviparous i.e. they lay eggs.

Only some animals from Reptilia that belong to order Squamata ( Like some snakes and lizards ) do not lay eggs but give live birth i.e. they are viviparous.

In short , answer to your question is , both Alligators and Crocs lay eggs.
