u have to file a petition through the court, fill out a bunch of papers with your income and stuff. some states have automatic times when support is to be increased, say age 13, etc.

Usually the court should have a modification form of some sort. Reviews and modifications come either every three years or when a change of income has occured that is greater than 10 percent either way. Check your local law library for information.
