no kids yet, but i don't see anything wrong with it! so long as you don't name them after the celebrity's children! OMG celebreties come up with some crazy names, don't they? two people with simple names like Bruce and Demi, named their children Rumer, Scout and Tallulah?? Whispering Willow, Apple, Sailor, Ryder, shall i go on? it's hard enough being a child of a celebrity, now you are making me deal with the name, too? geez.

anyway, i've vented....celebrity names are fine, dear :)

People have been naming their children after people they admire for centuries. There is nothing wrong with that as long as you take into account the way other children will react to a child with an evocative name. If the person you name your child after has a bad reputation or instant name recognition, your child could be subjected to intense teasing in school. Matthew Perry isn't an objectional name but I've heard of people naming their kids after infamous criminals or others of disrepute. Those parents need a good a$$ whoopin'.

There's nothing wrong with celebrity names. After all, they are people too. I've known quite a few families (with multiple children) that named their kids after movie stars from the 40's & 50's. I just don't like weird names like "Apple" or "Freedom". What are these parents thinking?
I'm having a girl... and trying to talk my husband into Celine... after Celine Dion the singer. My absolute favorite singer.

I agree with Cee. It is your child that you carried for nine months. You should be able to name your child anything that you darn well want to.
ie: My oldest daughter is named after a character on a video game. My husband is in love with Grandia Xtreme. There is a character on there named Elena and my daughter's name is Alaina. I changed the spelling a little bit. :)

Um, Michael Jackson's teenagers are named after different contributors in his relatives, no longer because of the fact of his "King of dad" call. And the singer Prince, i assume his call is stupid too? some celebrities somewhat do bypass somewhat some distance with their newborn's names, yet who's to assert this is extremely the call they chosen? we don't have their start certificates, and the names the widespread public knows of ought to easily be nicknames. i don't comprehend why they % a number of those names, although. i comprehend somebody of the call Apple, and that i individually think of it somewhat is a lovable call.

I might name my child after someone I admire, but since I feel that most celebrities are not people I admire... and are not great contributors to society, well, it isn't for me.

I would never name my child after anyone's names. I will always give him/her a unique name which will define his/her personality.
