No. Slavery as practiced in Africa between tribes was vastly different than european slavery. Tribal slaves were treated as a member of the family -- required to work, but honored and respected, allowed to share in the fruits of their labors. In many ways, the only restriction or rule placed on them was that they were not allowed to run away, and other than that, they were just part of the household like all others in that household.
Europeans followed slavery as it was presented in the Bible and used that book to justify destroying the people they enslaved, treating them like nothing more than unfeeling objects.

no, it doesn't.
it doesn't matter where it occurred, slavery anywhere is not justifiable.
besides if u really study world history, there is not one nation that hasn't taken their own as slaves or sold them or took them from another.
i hate when people try to use the fact that in African history some people that did that makes it okay for the Europeans.
it's not till Europeans did it that there was such widespread hatred and devastation of entire populations, unmatched by any other nation.

No, but certain Europeans bought slaves from Africa and sold them elsewhere.
That shows that slavery is an attractive and inherently corrupt process that degrades everyone who particiaptes in it.
The European colonial governments are gone, but slavery still exists in a few African countries and some nations bordering the Persion Gulf, by the way.

Slavery wasn't that bad, I hate to break it to you but that's a fact. If I own a horse am i going to starve or beat that horse unnecessarily? NO! I am going to take good care of him so he can work for me..and if I need more just mate the horse. So you see from a business standpoint all this talk about the evils of slavery make no sense at all. Get over the whole slavery thing, you were never a slave and I never owned slaves. It is a stupid thing bringing up.

I been asking this same question. I see on here all the time that when the issues of slavery is brought up. Some say "it was the Africans that sold other Africans in to slavery". As to justify slavery here.
But name me one African that sold others into slavery? Can they prove all Africans brought here were sold if any. Yet I can prove that most if not all blacks brought here was oppressed.
But that's not the only justification I seen for slavery. I seen that...
"they would still been slaves and treated worst in Africa"
(yet who said all blacks sold were slaves or mistreated yet if treatment was so bad in Africa why are their countless stories of them wanting to go back?)
"slavery is still in Africa today"
(then where? Just because it happen in one place in Africa don't mean all on that continent practice slavery.)
"Lincoln was the one to free the slaves"
(if so why were blacks still oppress 100 years latter, and marching for freedom)
"we where all slaves at one point or another"
( So that means it was ok for blacks to be, would they still say that if we put them in slavery today???)
"many white people died for the freedom of blacks"
(yet many blacks were oppress and died for their own rights, very few whites died for the freedom of blacks. Because a few died for their rights now that overrides a lifetime of oppression most if not all blacks face).
"If they wasn't here they would be starving in poor Africa"
(who said all ppl in that CONTINENT is starving, poor, a sicken with diseases, and that this is how all Africans live? Yet, what would America be if not from slavery? What would Africa be if Not for colonization? What if???)
"You are not slaves anymore, and better here than Africa"
(400 years of oppression now when this nation stop oppressing blacks, We should credit whites as hero's! Because they decided to stop oppression. That's like thanking a bully because he stop beating you up)
"no one in my family tree own a slave"
(yet 90% of the oppression the black race face was not by slave owners. But racist, No One have to be a slave own to be racist or a oppressor, like Hitler. EX Jim crow, segregation)
Their is no justifacation of black slavery-- America didn't have to keep blacks as slaves. America didn't have to oppress them. Name one African or slave who endorse the murder, hate and mistreatment of blacks? It was America who chose to legally oppress the black race, no one esle.

Slavery has existed since long before recorded history... slavery was common in the ancient world... the Greeks, Persians, Hebrews, Egyptians, and Romans all practiced slavery... so it wasn't "just" Africans who have suffered from slavery.
