I think they'd still be considered Latino because they're South American.

I think the only place that still asks those kinds of questions is with regard to the federal government like on surveys to determine population and needs. On those forms they have a whole long list of items that a person could be. Sometimes the child/person takes on the ancestry of the Father. Sometimes when it's a mixture of white or latino then they are considered latino. Could be too of which language they use, or if they use their familiar language a lot with family and friends then they might want to go with that ancestry. A person might have a white appearance yet you can tell their language is like maybe spanish so why not just be latino? It's not a big deal you know.
But, if they were born in America, then they would, for all purposes, just be considered American.

Darling, you are so confused. Been Latin or not is a matter of culture and language. Been white or not is a matter of color and they are not the same. A Latin person is the one who speaks a language which origins is Latin ( Spanish, french, Italian, Portuguese), so, by this means, anyone can be white or not and be Latin.
Hispanic people are the ones who speaks Spanish.
So, when you refer to Latinamerican people, who are referring to those who live in America (continent, not USA) and speaks one of the languages mentioned above. Now, remember, a french or an Italian are also Latins.
You can also have heard about Hispanic Americans, those are who speaks Spanish and live in America (again, the continent).

Finally, in Argentina, most of the people is white and they are latin, but in Haiti, most of the people is black and also are Latins.

I am very sure of this, so I hope your question is answered.

I think the term Latino refers to an ethnic group rather than a race so I would say yes. There are a large number or white as well as black spanish speaking people.

In South America they just say white. placing Latino as your race is only done in USA when a politically correct professor in the 70s came up with the idea.

being latino means u have a spanish ancestry, thats all.
if the person's european background is french or english or scottish, etc, then no, not latino.
don't forget spain is also in europe, so being latino does not mean u can't also be white.
there are white latinos, black latinos, asian latinos, native american latinos, tall latinos, short latinos, happy latinos, sad latinos....

I'm a born American citizen white Latin. Under the American definition of a "white" I can be as white as a paper and because the Latins are a minority I can't be "white". In the last population poll I had to choose between been a white or been a Latin. When you apply for a college or university is the same thing.

I'm such a white person, and I fill out my forms as white, because I look anglo (white skin, brown hair and blue eyes). My mother was from Spain, so when asked and only have one choice, I say "white". If I have more than one choice, I basically say "White with Spanish ancestry"

if they live in Brazil they are Brazilian, that's their nationality, their race would be white. If they mix with a Latin person, they would be Latin no matter where they live. Nationality and race are 2 different things
