I think it is all just hype. I don't consider them planets.

Nah. I think Pluto should remain a planet, simply because it's been one for so long. But no others should be classified as planets unless they're considerably bigger than Pluto. I want to smack them for naming one Xena. I hadn't heard about Ceres. And why are we considering Charon as a possibility? Isn't that Pluto's moon? I realize it may be close in size, but it is still smaller, and orbitting an existing planet.

I think Pluto & Charon should be part of our solar system . Planet Xena is just a ridiculas consideration . Because Xena is located 10 billion miles away from Pluto PAST the Oort cloud. And what a cheesy name Xena is!
I think Sedna should be named one instead of Xena .

I agree with all except Xena. Charon is a VERY small planet with very little gravity whatsoever, so in my book its an asteroid. Charon orbits pluto, the larger object, so it is a moon.

i think of despite decision the IAU makes, there are going to be fairly some human beings unhappy with the determination. actually that interior the previous 15 years, we've far greater theory approximately our photograph voltaic device, by using stepped forward satelites, probes, observational missions, and of course, the Hubble area Telescope. The technologies available to astronomers in the present day dwarves what guy had till those days. (How long has it been in view that we've understood the 'rings' of Saturn'?) finally there is going to be an arbitrary determination. For now, shall we decide including those 3 extra planets - i'm guessing with the substitute in technologies increasing at a quantam bounce, the IAU would be revising their definition of what a planet is interior the no longer too distant destiny.
