my husband always wanted to know where fire flys go in the day does anyone know?

They hide in foliage and live their lives finding food etc.
They only come out in the night to mate. Hence the lighting of their "bulbs" to attract new mates.

In the daytime, the lightning bug finds a resting spot on a shady leaf. actually the kind of plant they rest in is the Silvered Leaf Monkey or Silvered Langur Presbytis cristata .In some trees a whole colony of fireflies will be there during the day . Roght under your very nose !

I agree with cecil in that fireflies are still out during the day but we can't see them. If it is in a shadowy place we will be able to see the firefly.

some still fly around during the day, but often times they will crawl into the grass and sleep that's why when they first start coming out at night they come from the ground

To the firefly hotel. They have to get their early because rooms sell out quickly!

in kansas i had some in a jar but the others were around at night.
that is a good question though. but that question could be applied
to all bugs. anywhere they feel safe. i freed my fireflys to at night.

Certainly!

Fireflies rest on plants, probably in torpor (what passes for sleep in insects), until nightfall.

They're still in and around the area where you saw them at night. You just don't see them during the day because of the light.

Well this is tricky but i some in the day sometimes but i guess home in the ground or trees

And it depends where you live

they are always flying around but in sunlight u cant see them glowing
