That depends. It took me awhile to iron out the bugs in my sites--only because I've been dinking around with the content, layout, and formats. (Still am.)
But success isn't just by how many people you can drive to your site like a night out with a drunk Mel Gibson.
It's more to the point of what you can offer and what appeals MOST to people with similar interests to yours.
I'm a writer/free-lance editor/ news hound/avid gamer, amongst other things, so I had a wide variety of people to target off and on over the past several years. (But that's YEARS, not DAYS.)
Over time, you'll find success on your own--if you can persevere at it long enough.
I've seen some sad cases where people just put up their sites and complain a day later that no one but their mother comes to see what their "son" is doing.
And I'm like, "you mean you haven't gone out there to promote yourself...?"
And the guy's like, "Huh?"
And I'm like, "Oh god..." (shaking head)

Getting registered with the main search engines, and if applicable a well-run database or two seems to make for a high number of hits.
For me, a good website is one that gets updated often and is easy to navigate.
