Why are words considered bad. I mean, society made them up, they are not unholy, why do we consider someone a deviant for saying a word. If no words where considered bad does no one would choose them over any other.

It's because we have attached meaning to certain words to connote something bad. You're right, the sound of the words in and of themselves are not bad. It's what they mean to us.

Referencing Big Dawg: The S word was originally used to designate that manure was to be Shipped High In Transit. Now it means the manure. Things change with time and the English language is ripe with slang which seems to change the most.

Because communication is the basis for action, technically called structuring objects.

Think about it this way, you know that you need to wear clothes everyday, but this is not instinctual, you need to learn it.

To learn it you need to learn it from someone else and you communicate with others through words.

The desire to wear clothes is so strong in most people that they become very distressed if they aren't. But this desire is entirely the result of words.

People try to limit the power of words to create structures they don't like by limiting the words you can use

The word itself is not bad. It is what the word is used to describe. Such as at the beginning of Braveheart, the one Lord invoked Prema Nocta (Might be spelled wrong), where he was able to bless the marriage by sleeping with the bride. It has another word for it, Fornicating Under Consent of the King. What does that spell? F..U.. SEA.. KAY.

that's a good question no seriously. i think that many people take others too seriously. words have many different meanings and are for a person to find the meaning themselves. this world is just too false these days and people take things to the extreme.

It isn't really the words that get judged but your intentions behind them. Such I totally understand were your coming from. My daughter got an in school suspension last year for answering a teacher " hell yeah" when she was asked if she wanted icecream. I told the principle he was lucky I didn't told him "You got to be f***ing kidding me" when he called me about it.

You make a good point.

Something is only offensive is someone is offended by it. Sometimes the blame lies with the offended, not the offender.
