A partial hysterectomy whereby a bilateral oophrectomy was not performed, leaving both ovaries intact, will allow the ovaries to continue to produce hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. It is also possible to continue releasing mature eggs, as we are born with the total number of eggs we will produce in our lifetime, but they are not mature. However, because the oviduct/ fallopian tubes and the uterus have both been removed, and the passage blocked off, the eggs produced will be re-absorbed by the body.

An ovulation test will be positive as long as either ovary has a mature follicle. Also, if an egg is released from your left ovary it can still be picked up by the right fallopian tube and still be fertilized. This isn't as common, but it does happen. As far as being able to tell which ovary has the mature follicle about to release, there are 2 ways you can try to tell. You have to be very in tune with your body, but when you are about to ovulate one side of your vulva will swell, this is the side that will release the egg, if the right swells the eggs in the right ovary. Also, there is a lymph node in your upper thigh/groin area that can indicate ovulation. Put your hand down by your groin with your middle finger on the main artery in your leg, you should be able to feel it pulsing, and this will put your index finger right over the lymph node. It swells to about the size of a pea on the side you are ovulating from. I know this sounds very confusing, but get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertiltiy by Toni Weschler, it has illustrations showing exactly what to feel for. Good luck!

yes they do cause the female hormones and still being produced and they cause the eggs to be released. They will erupt from the surface of the ovary and get disintegrated in the body

okai...u mean partial hysterectomy by removing left side ovaries...right??yes your right ovaries will still produce healthy eggs because when left side has removed, your reproduction system will aware the missing portion will instruc the right side to produce eggs.If you are married and planning to bet babies then I will say good luck because the chances to get pregnant is still 80%.all the best!!

You are born with all the eggs you will ever have. Eggs only mature throughout your adult life. The eggs mature under hormonal control, but without a uterus eggs are not typically matured and released.

Question, why would the orvaries be left if the uterus and tubes removed? Generally, they take the lot.
