I have had the same symptoms before and I went to the doctor about it. He seemed to think it was a fairly common problem and that it would go away in time (which it did). It's back again (over a year later) and it burns after the pee comes out of my penis, and I feel the need to pee on a frequent basis.

Previously, the doctor believed my problem was related to masturbation. And he didn't prescribe anything as it was already clearing up by the time I met with him (it lasted about 3 or 4 days).

I found on the net that it could possibly be an aggravated urethra, or a result of strenuous masturbation. It has been about a day and I'm hoping it will clear up. In addition to the burning, particles (of semen?) come out sometimes when I can only pee very little. The particles are sometimes red with blood, soft, and small. I'm a virgin, but I masturbate often (every day at least). Has this crap happened to anyone else?

Hurts like hell!! I'm drinking lots of water... any tips?

Heh... If it were kidney stones, wouldn't the doctor have told me so the first time? Also... UTIs in men are so rare, it doesn't seem like one. I'm thinking it has something to do with masturbation as the symptoms began right after my last -- well-- you know.

Sounds more like a bladder infection to me. The signs of that are frequent and painful urination, with some blood in urine (often described as looking like strawberry juice). Sure does sound like what you've already described.

The proper treatment would be antibiotics. Take your doctor a first morning urine sample (collect the first pee you have after sleeping). This is usually most concentrated and will be a better indication of your problem. Bladder infections are nothing to fool around with. If left untreated the pain WILL go away, but the infection may move up to the urethra and the kidneys, causing a worse problem down the road.

If your doctor refuses to treat this, try a second opinion. You should also be getting a blood test done. Elevated white blood cell counts mean your body is fighting an infection.

If you still can get no satisfaction from the medical community, taking large doses of cranberry extract should help. Speak to your health food store proprietor.

I'm with iritadragon, they've probably nailed it. Either a U.T.I. and/or Bladder infection. Must get antibiotics, it's very important. I can't believe your first visit to the doctor gave you such a lame answer. Did he at least take a urine sample? Or was he just taking your money? Don't let it go, it is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I have gotten many UTI's over the years and it's miserable and your urine will have blood in it. Good Luck!
