I would like to wear a tie, but I think that as a young woman with very short hair, that will make me look too much like a sterotypical lesbian (which I sort of am anyway).
I am secure in my own sexuality and don't much mind what other people think, but I wonder if a tie, "male" haircut, and being outspoken about LGBTQ rights would be too much for the administration of my conservative school and get me dismissed from the dances/other social occasions. What do you think?

SweetT, this has absolutely nothing to do with my personal life. It’s about me possibly being refused admission to the homecoming festivities because I believe that LGBTQ people should be treated with the same respect as straight people and I don’t conform to traditional gender ideals. I happen to think that it’s *everyone’s* business to see that people aren’t treated as second-class citizens.

I would be somewhat cautious because of the nature of your school. I think wearing a tie as a woman is OK, but its not exactly in style. Avril Lavigne's look is over, and so is Ellen's from when she wore one years ago. In many respects I don't think it is worth risking with school, but on the other hand, what exactly is wrong about a woman wearing a tie?? It doesn't seem to affect any dress code expectations. Men can wear pink shirts and have long hair without issues from school admins...

You are kinda contradictiong yourself but just do whatever makes you feel great............ And why be outspoken about something that's none of anyone's business. If you are Lesbo it's your business, no one would ever know if you don't say anything. I am not saying to be in the closet but just keep other people out of your bedroom. I go to work everyday and people don't know that I am married with two children and a dog because it's none of their business. Now my friends know........... get my drift. Only the people who matter to you should you concern yourself with. Some people are not going to like it if you are Les.. and some won't care, but their are plenty of straight people who do some pretty freaky stuff in the bedroom, the difference is, they leave it there...............
