I am studying with light rock n roll in the backround. Will this aid or hinder my ability to retain information?

I think it can help because If played at low volumes it can keep your mind from drifting, your mind may start to drift but it will focus on the music instead of drifting out to other subjects, so your limiting your distraction to music wich sometimes is better than the other billion things that you may be distracted to to think of

If you are studying it can be a distraction. If you were cleaning up, it would energize you and really get you going. Turn the music and continue to study. After you are done, turn the rock n roll back on and party.

it depends on how you think and learn and also if the light rock is engageing and interesting to you. if its just on for the noise most likely it wont distract you but if you have it on to listen to you will probably get distracted. if you need noise to study or work try getting a white noise machine or a tape of nature sound.

I think it depends on your personal learning style. For me i think it would be distracting. But hey doctors when they perform surgery will at times listen to music.
