Simple if you are using ethernet to connect your computer to the DSL appliance. Mine, has a 4 port ethernet hub built in. I simply configure another computer and plug it is to one of the open ports and there it is. In your case, if you do not have multiple connection points in the DSL appliance, then all you need is a hub, $20 or so. The hub connects to the DSL and you connect your computers to the ports in the hub. Then, if using almost any version of Windoze from 95 and up, you can network the whole thing and share resources among the connected machines. Other people have suggested a wireless router. It will work equally as well to make a wireless link to the laptop. The router acts in a similar manner to a simple hub in this respect. The wireless portion just replaces a hardwire cable to make the connection. A router is more or less, a "smart" hub. I may be oversimplifying this issue. There is another alternative, add a wireless card to your home computer and then a wireless device to the laptop and configure Windoze to "share the internet connection" which makes the machine connected to the DSL the "server" for the secondary wireless network connection to the laptop in addition to having its own connection.

You need a router, wired or wireless (which also do wired). The DSL modem would connect to the router, and the router would be wired to the computers.
Wired / Wireless: Wire is cheaper and faster, but you cannot move around much.
If your laptop has a wireless interface (or you can buy one for it) then you can get a wireless router instead of a wired one, The wireless router can still do wires, in case you have a stationary computer near the router.
Anyway the laptop can connect wirelessly to the wireless router, which is attached to the DSL modem, and everybody will be happy.

It might be best to talk to Linksys before you doing anything else and ask how you should hook up both computers together. You ask the person what kind of router you need.
Tech. support at Yahoo will help you also.
(Now contact online Linksys technical support line. Linksys.com)
Go to Radio Shack. Ask the person there how. Basically the first answer you got was the right answer with no detail. I suggest you get a wired Router from Linksys, a Linksys Router called a four hole. The model number is BEFSR41. version 2. S/N is 2127040397. (I am assuming you are running a Desk top type computer. If you are using a MAC, all bets are off.) Unplug the yellow cord from your computer computer and put it into the WAN hole in the back of the Router. You need a new USB cord which may come with the Router, three to six feet that will run from the Router in the #2 hole to your computer. Now, take a long enough cord, USB Cat .5 cord, that goes from the #3 hole in the router to the USB hook up in the second computer. The router is called a four hole router, Looking at the router from the back, the left hand hole is the WAN hole. The right hand hole is the uptake plug in hole, this will not be used to get the two computer working together. Between the two holes on the left as you look at the back and the right as you look at from the back to the front and on the left hand side to uptake plug in hole. Between, these two outside holes there is four holes numbered 1,2,3,4,. (Sorry this is so long. I really am a beginner, but I just went through this and have this setup) And it is working.
Now, turn everything off.
Now map your set-up with the wires from which hole to which hole with what wire and so on. When you have it completely mapped out, then unplug the usb cord that goes to your computer and take the yellow cord out of the router and plug it into the computer. Turn of your comput and your modum.
Go to linksys.com and then hit Linksys Easy Link Advisor and follow the directions. If you get lost, then go to tech support line and talk to a Tech.
I hope this works, and it might be best to talk to Linksys before you doing anything else and ask how you should hook it up with both computers. Tech. support at Yahoo will help you also.

Well...it depends on how much is ur budget...if u want it done cheaply...then go for a hub or a switch...but then u'll have to go for wired connection... Connect the hub or switch to the dsl modem...and connect the computers to the hub or switch....and ur good to go...i.e. of course if u have configured the dsl modem properly....
BUT....
The best way would be to get a wireless router. Put ur dsl modem in bridge mode..and configure u router for wireless and wired connection....according to ur preferences.

I need a router (i need one to, but dont feel like buying it)
They sell for around $30 and what you do it, you connect the dsl to the router, then you can connect multiple computers to the router.
Most routers today also include wireless so your labtop would get it without connecting the wires.
