On March 10, 2003, during the run-up to the invasion of Iraq (which would take place on March 20), Natalie Maines (a native of Lubbock, Texas) said between songs during a concert at the Shepherd's Bush Empire theatre in London:

"Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas."[1]

it was mainly what she said about GW

She is from Texas and said at a concert in England that she was embarrassed that President Bush is from Texas! You can say what you want in America, but don't bash your country when you are in another, that is why so many Americans were angry, and rightly so. I used to Love the Dixie Chicks, but as a former Marine I lost all respect for them. That is why.

actually, she said THEY(the chicks) were ashamed to be from the same state as george w. and, while they are entitled to exercise thier first amendment rights, it was considered by most country music fans to be "airing thier dirty laundry in public" at a atime when we, as americans, should have been standing together as one. GOD bless AMERICA!!!

All they said is that they're ashamed GWB is from Texas. Just expressing their opinion, and all of a sudden, Bush supporters brand them as evil.
