Ram is sort of like you memory. The long term is the hard drive and short term memory is RAM. Then when it is done with that info, the computer gets rid of it, like you forgetting what your had for breakfast 1 week ago. Getting more RAM will speed up your computer. ram, temporaray storage area also known as random access memory, every applications, programs or data uses ram when being use. programs or data are stored permanently on hard disk, floppy, flash drive or cd, but onceyou open them this applications goes to your ram to speed thing up. The higher ram the the faster the computer.
