Is there anything that could affect a sperm test? Should we test again. Any info on this will help. Thanks

My hubby also has this problem. You can retest, but it gets kinda spendy. The fact is that more men than you realize have this problem, it's just so taboo that no one talks about it. We found this out 6 yrs ago when my husband had his 1st one done. He was VERY low & they weren't very mobile on top of that, then half the mobile ones were retarded. We were told we would need IV fertilization to get pregnant. Boy, or should I say, girl, were they wrong cuz 1 yr later, I was pregnant with my daughter who's about to turn 5.
We are trying again now, and decided after 6 months to to the test again just to see where we were at (he's lost about 20lbs since last test) his count was up a couple million, but still well below the low level. But more are active and not as 'retarted'. So we actually have more hope now that we will concieve. Some tips we got were wear the boxers, use frozen peas on them every night to cool down, no acohol, nicotine, or caffiene. But the one thing the doctor said that was intruguiging was that we would get pregnant in the winter. This being due to the cooler temps. He was right, jan 1st I got pregnant.
The other things I have found out on my own are that there are many studies showing that fertility goes up approx 70% in men when they take extra zinc 25-50 mg/day and folic acid 400mg/day.

Definitely consider testing again. There are a variety of factors that affect sperm production & the cycle is about 10 weeks, so the tested sperm were produced about 10 weeks prior to the test. If your husband had a fever or infection at that time, it could have caused poor sperm quality.
