My very first laptop was a Sony vaio. When I decided to upgrade it, I got another Sony vaio. Now it's time for an upgrade again, and my husband asked me if I had considered buying a Macbook at this time, as oppose to get a Sony Vaio TX. Any suggestions? What are the advantages of having a Mac? Is its Operational System more efficent than Windows XP? Is it simpler to use than another computer? What about picture and sound quality? What happens to my from word and excel documents? I appreciate your comment.

On the positive side, you won't have to put the same amount of effort into it in order to reach an acceptable level of security.
With a PC, you must have AV, firewall (NOT the Microsoft one), and at least two different anti-spyware products AND ensure all are updating correctly.

On the negative side, you might find the things you expect a PC to do are no longer possible, the way to do other things is annoyingly different, and - worst of all - the fact your husband is suggesting a Mac almost certainly indicates he has already had, or is likely to have in the future an affair with another man.

Heaven vs. Hell

Mac OS X is the most advanced operating system, even more advanced the upcoming Vista. It's more intuitive, more visually appealing, and is more efficent. I could go on and on, but the Mac is the way to go.
